Dar būdamas vaikas, Luisas dienų dienas leisdavo kartu su tėčiu žiūrėdamas „Formulės-1“ lenktynes. Šis pomėgis paskatino jį išbandyti gokartus: sulaukęs dešimties laimėjo
Didžiosios Britanijos kartingo čempionatą. Netrukus ėmė treniruotis su „McLaren“ komanda. Debiutuodamas lenktynėse, Luisas, dėvėjo ryškiai geltoną šalmą, atiduodamas pagarbą savo didvyriui Airtonui Senai. Pirmajame čempionato sezone Hamiltonas užėmė antrą vietą, sparčiai kilo lenktynininkų reitingų lentelėse, kol galiausiai tapo geriausiu savo srityje. Šis lenktynininkas netgi buvo įšventintas į riterius!

Vis dėlto seras Luisas niekad nepamiršo, kas jis ir iš kur kilęs. Lenktynininkas keliauja po pasaulį, kad padrąsintų kitus svajoti apie geresnę ateitį. Jis nenuilstamai dirba, kad kiti juodaodžiai vaikai vieną dieną galėtų tapti inžinieriais, automobilių mechanikais ar profesionaliais sportininkais.
